Spearlink
for Kenney Game Jam
A 2D platformer where you are given a spear, which can be used as an attack, for mobility or as a platform. Defeat waves of enemies alongside short platforming segments.
Controls
Arrows / Left joystick: Move or Aim
Z / (A) / (B): Jump
X / (X) / RT: Throw or recall spear
C / (Y) / LT: Dive
Esc: return to start screen (loses progress)
Jam
This only used assets by Kenney at Assets · Kenney, as part of the rules of the game jam (this excludes the sound effects made in ChipTone by SFBGames (itch.io), music made in Bosca Ceoil: The Blue Album by yurisizov (itch.io), and font made in BitFontMaker2™ BitMap Font Editor (pentacom.jp)). These were recoloured to the palette vanilla milkshake Palette (lospec.com), and edited (recolouring, stacking, resizing, cropping) in aseprite, and made using Godot.
The theme of the jam was Connection, which made me think of games where you have a second unique object other than the player of which you have control over. So I chose connection as the connection between the player character and an object, in this case a spear, which can be utilised and controlled in various ways.
This game was made entirely within the 48 hour constraints of the game jam.
